Frequently Asked Questions

I can be reached at info@JennEvans.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Clinical Hypnotherapy is a modality for accessing the subconscious mind. While in a deep meditative state, I guide you through a change work process.

Also known as Root Cause Therapy, hypnotherapy allows you to access the subconscious mind, which controls 95% of your brain's activity. While under a hypnotic trance, your brain is easily malleable, allowing the collapse of old neuro pathways and the strengthening of new ones through a process called neuroplasticity.

In British Columbia, hypnotherapy is not regulated.  This means there is no mandate regarding the level of education, training, or experience individuals offering hypnotherapy services have. For this reason it is important to make sure your practitioner is qualified for your specific needs. Hiring a Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist ensures that your therapist has a baseline level of education and experience.

Most people can experience hypnosis, including children and those with very active or busy minds. However, certain mental health conditions may fall outside my professional scope. If you are unsure whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for your specific concerns, I encourage you to speak with your doctor before booking a session.  See the "Hypnosis is not suitable for..." section for more information.

Yes, online hypnotherapy is effective!  Many people enjoy being in the comfort of their own homes.  As a client, you must have a quiet space with no distractions, a computer with a camera, headphones, and a solid internet connection.

It depends on your insurance plan.  Some providers may offer coverage under psychological services.  You may also have coverage under a flexible health spending account through your employer.  At this time I do not offer direct billing.  Please contact your provider to determine if you have coverage for registered hypnotherapy services.

It depends on your individual needs and results vary from person to person.  Feel free to contact me at info@JennEvans.ca to schedule a free 30-minute consultation over Zoom.

No. People naturally enter hypnotic states every day, often without realizing it. For example, the relaxed state just before falling asleep is a state of hypnosis.

You remain fully in control during hypnosis. If I said or suggested something that did not feel right to you, you would naturally come out of the hypnotic state. Most people remain aware and remember what is said throughout the session. This is therapeutic hypnosis, not stage hypnosis.

Hypnosis is not recommended for people experiencing certain mental health conditions. This includes individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), psychosis, or severe dissociative disorders.
